Hello MySwissAlps Team,

Yours is an amazing forum helping so many people who are planning to tour this beautiful country! Loads of thanks!

I have planned a week's trip to Switzerland with our family of 4 including two kids in the middle of June-19 with the following itinerary:

Base Luzern: Day 1=> Luzern City tour, Luzern Lake trip; Day 2=> Mt. Titlis with walking/hiking wherever possible; Day 3 => Luzern-Interlaken-Schilthorn covering Murren, Gimmelwald and Trummerbach Falls with walking/hiking wherever possible; Day 4 => Luzern-Interlaken-Jungfrau covering Wengen & Grindelwald with walking/hiking wherever possible.

Base Vevey: Day 5 => Luzern to Interlaken City tour and then to Montreux using Golden Pass line, Day 6 => Vevey / Montreux paragliding, City tour; Day 7: Lake Geneva Cruise and head to reach Geneva Airport by 1 PM.

Q1: Does this itinerary seem too ambitious? Q2: Kindly suggest best/economical Swiss Travel Pass for this itinerary if possible. Where all we will need reservations on the trains if we have travel pass? Q3: Kindly suggest wherever we can utilize walking etc in this itinerary.

Many thanks for help!

Rekha

Hi Rekha

Welcome to the forum.

Just an observation. Why don't you move your base to the Jungfrau region for your planned activities in that region on days 3,4 and 5? It would cut out a lot of travelling as the journey from Lucerne and Vevey to the Jungfrau region takes between 2 to 3 hours each way,

Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Jane

Hi Rekha,

I agree with Jane that you will be spending too much time traveling if you keep your base in Luzern for day trips in the Jungfrau region. I would suggest to either do more day trips near Luzern (there are plenty of options), or move to Interlaken or a town in the Jungfrau region. Please see:

Luzern and Interlaken are very different cities. Interlaken is more like a town, not very big, and there is not much to see in the town itself (there is in the region though). Please see:

With your current itinerary the Swiss Travel Pass is the best option: www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass. You'd better only look into passes once your itinerary is completed.

The above town and region links also offer many hiking suggestions.
