I was wondering how long it takes to walk from Giswil Train station to the Church on the hill? Are there troti or regular bicycles for rent anywhere?
There are 8 churches and chapels in the Roman-Catholic parish of Giswil, of which two are on a hill, and most others in hilly terrain, so it would help if you could be a bit more specific. In addition, you may mean the various churches dedicated to St Nicholas in Flüeli-Ranft, of much more important touristic meaning, that can also be reached by hikers from Giswil (I did that hike myself last year!)

Thank you for your quick reply! WOW! I had no idea there were that many in that little place. I believe it is St. Joseph’s church. Not terribly far from train station but I am on a time crunch that day.
Mouse over the church icons in this map. It does not show a St. Joseph's.
It may not be complete.
Have you searched the internet for the church name and street location?
That map does not show altitudes, but if you switch to aerial view you can get a sense of where the hills are.
The church nearest the station s St. Laurentius. It is not on a hill.
This map shows altitudes, but is very detailed:

The old church on the hill to the west is 2 km from the station. If you are Swiss, you can walk that in 20 minutes. Mere mortals will take longer, perhaps 30 minutes.
Hahahaha! I am just a mere mortal! Yes it is St. Laurentius. When you google churches in Giswil It gets very confusing. I have seen 1/2 dozen names for it. Thank you so much. My 2nd G. Grandmother was from Giswil. I have no idea which Catholic Church she was christened in but I can imagine it was one of these. I have about 2 hours to spend in Giswil so that will be perfect!
Are you aware of Giswil's most famous citizen, who passed away a few years ago?
You mean yodelist Ruedi Rymann ✝️2008?

Auf Englisch we say "yodeler."
I have a few of his CD's. His family was also impressive.
Do you know when the next All- Federation Jodeler Fest will happen?
St. Laurentius is in the village part called Rudenz, here: screenshots.firefox.co m/Sn0oBhAS7whY7Zwz/map .schweizmobil.ch and indeed on a hill, albeit a small one by Swiss standards.
Mobility Switzerland tells me the walking distance from the train station, in summer, takes 16 minutes.
A description of the churches and chapels of Giswil (in German) confirms that St. Laurentius is on a hill (Hügel).
I think the closest bike rental place for you is at Sarnen train station, as per the link I gave you in post 2 of this thread.
